Assigning Safety Functions to Products during Design – A Cultural Perspective

Abstract:

This paper attempts to review issues deserving special consideration regarding cultural diversity and product design in the global market. It will explore issues surrounding the effectiveness of warning signs, instructions as well as the appropriateness of transfer of technology in hot climatic conditions. Recommendations will be made regarding more effective transfer of meaningful information and knowledge to non-western cultures.
