Title:
Globalization: A Threat to Cultural Diversity?Author:
Bourges-Waldegg, P.Abstract:
Is globalization the enemy of cultural diversity? Are cultures going to disappear to give rise to a single global culture? Is design an agent of cultural annihilation? This paper is an attempt to answer these questions. From a perspective that encompasses the relationship between culture and design, and understands globalization as a social process in its broadest sense and not only as a marketing strategy, we will discuss these issues, as well as how they can influence on design research and practices.Original publication:
