In this paper we present the results from a survey within the global software development community investigating approaches to software development and the associated relevance of Hofstede’s dimensions of culture. Results show that Hofstede’s dimensions may indeed have relevance for West and Eastern Europe, but that the situation is by no means as clear for Asian developers. Through statistical analysis of developer’s attitudes we identify a further possible dimension operating in this field and discuss its potential role.Original publication:
